Rita Kumbera

Town of Rome - Rita J. Kumbera, age 85, of the town of Rome, died Friday March 26, 2021 at Our House Assisted Living Center in Wisconsin Rapids.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday April 8, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nekoosa. Rev. John Swing will officiate. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday at the church from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Spring Branch Cemetery in the town of Rome. Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Rita was born November 29, 1935 in West Allis to Edwin and Doris (Goetzel) Schuler. She married Leonard Kumbera on May 15, 1965 in Hales Corners. He died February 24, 2017. Rita was employed at St. Francis Seminary in Milwaukee before moving to the town of Rome in retirement.

Rita was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Nekoosa and was formerly a member of St. Veronica's Catholic Church in Milwaukee. She enjoyed playing cards in her card club, bowling and was a member of a dart league. Most of all Rita enjoyed time spent with her family and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her children Jonathan Kumbera and Jennifer (Brian) Peschel; daughter-in-law Dara (Reich) Kumbera; grandchildren Amanda and Emma Kumbera; sisters Rose McCredden and Irene Haake and by her brother William (Jackie) Schuler. Rita was preceded in death by her husband; parents and brothers James and Edwin Schuler Jr.

I am sorry for your loss. I knew your mother from Lake Arrowhead, we used to play darts on Thursday nights several years ago. She and Lenny were wonderful people!!
