Bertha L'Esperance Obituary
She was the wife of the late Arthur L'Esperance. Born in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Joseph & Cora (Lemieux) Cote.
Bertha and her husband, along with their son Robert, owned and operated the former Ray's Seafood store in Woonsocket for 38 years. She previously worked for the post office and the former Johnny's Clam Spa Restaurant in Glendale. She was past president of the Burrillville Senior Citizens and was a long time member of the Nasonville Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. Bertha was very active on numerous fundraising boards at St. Theresa's Church and enjoyed playing cards.
She is survived by her son, Robert L'Esperance and his wife Mary, grandchildren, Daniel and his wife Ashley and Timothy L'Esperance and a great-granddaughter, Leona.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Normand Cote.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10 AM in Our Lady of Good Help Church, Victory Hwy., Mapleville. Burial in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Pascoag will be private. Due to the covid virus, social distancing guidelines will be applied upon on arrival. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Overlook Nursing Home Activities Fund, 14 Rock Ave., Pascoag, RI 02859. Arrangements are entrusted to the Keene-Brown Funeral Home in North Smithfield.

I lived in Glendale and worked with Bertha at Johnny's Clam Spa while I attended Burrillville High School from 1952 - 1956. She was a terrific waitress who was dedicated to her work and gave a 100% effort to her job every day. She was a key to the great success of the restaurant. I shall always remember her fondly. May God rest her beautiful soul.

Bob Mary Danny and Timmy our deepest sympathy on the death of Bertha. We have some great memories with her and a sing song with Leo at thanksgiving. May her gentle soul rest in peace. We will keep you in our prayers.

I grew up next door to the L 'Esperance's , Bertha was a kind ,caring, person she would do anything for you, it was a pleasure growing up next door to you, will be truly missed, my condolences to Bob and his family

She was a wonderful woman that I bonded with from the moment I met her. I am married to her nephew David and always felt very welcome in her home. She will be missed very much.
