Dave was My Shipmate, My Brother, My Friend.....We did so many things together the 3 years on the USS Koelsch. We visited Foreign Countries together, worked together, even pulled some pretty good pranks on each other. We even got together when we were out of the Service. since He was in R.I. and I in Mass. I think of Him often, and can't wait to see Him again on the Other Side.

I am so saddened to hear of my Shipmates passing. I served on the USS Koelsch with Dave from 1983-1986. We hit it off right from the start, me being from MA. and him from RI. We were both Cooks so we spent a lot of time together...on and off the Ship. We had some fun, crazy times and some serious ones. He was my friend..."Piano Man" used to be"Our song " especially the line" he's talkin to Davey who's still in the Navy, and probably will be for life"...Our Ship is having a reunion on August 17th-20th. That's why I was trying to track Dave down... again sorry I'm 6 years too late.....

David was the son of our dearest friends and cruise mates , Frank and Audrey. Whenever we visited from Albany, NY, David would always stop by for warm conversation with us on Frank and Audrey's screened-in "porch". This was his personality. To know and enjoy people in all walks of life not to mention being a great cook. He would talk about family and things near and dear to his heart. He so loved his children and grand kids who we have had the pleasure to meet. Young David is following in his dad's footsteps - footsteps of a beautiful and caring life for all, . God's rest to you David; see you again some day.

I remember the long chats on the way to school, on the bus to Davie's. When I started working for the city, I enjoyed reminiscing about the old days when I used to bump into him at the fire station. He was an awesome cook. I bleieve I was blessed to have called him my friend. He will be greatly missed

I met David so many years ago working at Newport creamery , we became friends and hung out with the same group of friends. There was always plenty of laughter when he was around. If I was asked the one thing I remember about him it was his laugh. As life goes we went our own separate ways but I was saddened to hear of his passing. David as always the lord takes the good ones first. I will see you again one day so save me a spot. With so many great people on the other side when it comes my time to go I will have no problem letting so. To David's family we are truly sorry for your loss of this great guy. We hope in good time that the lord replaces your pain with just fond memories of this awesome man who brought smiles to people's faces just by entering the room.
