Dennis H. Abbott

HOMOSASSA, FL - Dennis H. Abbott, 73 of Homosassa, FL, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017 in Inverness, FL. He was born November 23, 1944 in Central Falls, RI. He was the son of John and Eleanor Abbott. Dennis earned an undergraduate degree from University of Rhode Island (URI), and an MBA from Bryant College in RI. He worked as a Purchasing Manager for many years in the Lottery industry (GTECH). He was a longtime resident of RI, before moving to Homosassa, FL, three and a half years ago.. Dennis was a member of the Masonic Order in RI, coached Girls Softball in RI for many years, and an avid football and sports fan. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years Elizabeth A. Abbott of Homosassa, FL, Daughters: Robin Abbenante, and husband Lou, of Cranston, RI, Debra Baccarie, and husband Joe, also of RI, and Brenda Hall, step-daughter, and wife Leah Lauderback of Alexandria, VA.
Dennis is survived by 3 brothers: John Robert Abbott, Jr. and wife Nancy, of The Villages FL, Arnold Abbott and wife Marie, of The Villages, FL, and Bruce Abbott and wife Lisa, of Brewster, MA; 6 grandchildren: Morgan Abbenante, Ella Abbenante, Amanda Baccarie, Kaitlin Baccarie, Jenna Baccarie and Tyler Hall; and 3 great-grandchildren: Julia, Nevaeh, and Nicholas.
Dennis touched the lives of everyone he knew and met, and brought great wisdom, joy and humor to all.
He will be dearly missed.
A private memorial "celebration of life" will be held in RI at a later date with family and friends.
