Norma Boardman Obituary

PAWTUCKET - Norma J. (Michael) Boardman, 80, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018. She was the beloved wife of Joseph T. Boardman for over sixty years. Born in Hartford City, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late James "Bud" and Wilma (Sawyer) Michael and the step-daughter of Leona Michael of Montpelier, Indiana. Norma had resided in Pawtucket for sixty years. She was a 1978 graduate of the University of Rhode Island and had been a substitute teacher at the Woonsocket High School. Norma was very artistic and enjoyed painting and crafting. She made beautiful quilts and baskets that are enjoyed by many people. She also loved her flower gardens and was an avid reader. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Edward M. Boardman and his wife, Karren, of Pawtucket and William G. Boardman and his wife, Dori, of Wakefield; five grandchildren, Emily, Andy, Sophia, Jay and Bonnie Jean Boardman; a brother, Thomas Michael of Tulsa, Oklahoma and three sisters, Irene Lutherbeck, Marolyn Love and Carolyn McDugle all of Haskell, Oklahoma. She was the mother of the late Joseph T. Boardman and the sister of the late Bonnie Avis.

Dear Joe and family. I was so sorry to read of Norma's passing. I was flooded with childhood memories of our Pawtucket neighborhood and also Jamestown, and how my parents always enjoyed your company so much! Indeed you were great friends. My thoughts and prayers will be with you in the coming months that your sweet and loving memories will overcome your grief in some small way.

So sorry to hear about Aunt Norma, I remember her from my childhood as a warm and gentle soul, who had an everlasting smile, and loved her family! The camping trips that our parents took us on! The Sunday visits, I know right now that in heaven she is with Joey and Uncle Roger is saying something to make her smile.

I will always remember my Aunt Norma as an especially warm, sweet and kind person. She loved her family very, very much. She had a pretty smile and laughed easily. I'll always picture her on a bright June day in Aunt Rita's backyard enjoying the annual family reunion. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

It was so sad to hear of Aunt Norma's passing. As kids, George, Joan, Nancy and I so looked forward to Uncle Joe and Aunt Norma's Christmas visit. It's funny how time goes on, but that memory is fixed forever, and it is just as special today as it was then. My most vivid memory of Norma is of her kindness and warm smile, like this photo. My heartfelt condolences to Uncle Joe, Ed, and Bill and your families.
