WOONSOCKET - Ralph W. Brewer, age 96, of The Friendly Home nursing home, Woonsocket, RI passed peacefully April 9, 2024. Born in Lowell, MA on November 8, 1927. He is preceded in death by his Parents, brother Everett, sisters Alice and Ida Brewer. He is survived by his youngest sibling, Elizabeth Brewer St. Clair of Nashua, NH, his three children, and many nieces and nephews.

Ralph was the second son to parents Everett S. Brewer and Elizabeth V. Brown Brewer. He worked for a tree-trimming business in his teenage years, while attending Lowell High School. He joined the Navy in 1945. He was stationed to the USS Siboney in the Pacific in WWII. He was honorably discharged from the Navy and found employment in a company that was retrofitting naval war ships to peacetime marine duties in Boston Harbor. He found a career in electronics repairs at Raytheon of Bedford, MA.

He married his high school sweetheart, Barbara E. Mussen in 1952 in Lowell. Ralph and Barbara raised their three children in Westford. Barbara passed in 2008. They are survived by Nancy Brewer Zazza (Alfred) of Port Charlotte FL, Forrest S. Brewer (Kathleen) of Candia NH, and Scott R. Brewer (Connie Gazmen Brewer) of Haleiwa, Hawaii. Also, one granddaughter, Sierra T. Brewer of HI.

His extended family includes step-grandchildren Gina Zazza (David Musket) Sarasota FL, Michael Zazza (Shawn-Marie) of Bellingham, MA, and step-great granddaughter Gabriella Zazza. He was preceded in death by step-great granddaughter Janessa Rivera, Bellingham MA.

He is also preceded by wife, the late Verna Soar of Chelmsford, MA. He lived in Hudson NH for more than 40 years.

Ralph was an avid golfer, colonial drum crafter and Methodist Sunday School Teacher. He helped initiate several Revolutionary War re-enactor groups to help celebrate the 1976 USA Bicentennial recognitions by local towns. Namely for the Westford Minutemen, Fort Devens Army Revolutionary Militia and Fifes & drums, the Mass. Bay Colonials Fife & Drum Band, and guided other militia groups as a drummer in Middlesex County.

Graveside services and interment will be held at a later date, at Lowell's Edson Cemetery. The S.DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1583 Diamond Hill Rd. Woonsocket, R.I. 02895 is in charge of the arrangements.
