Three years later, it is still hard to believe Dick is gone. Dave (Bloss) and I have been away so much that we kidded ourselves life here went on just as before, and Dick was still causing commotions in East Greenwich. We used to drive by his house every time we were in the neighborhood in hopes we could drop in to see him and maybe grab breakfast at Jiggers (he was always up for it!) I'm sure nice people live in his house now but I don't want to see it, I just can't imagine it without him. He was a wonderfully unique and hilarious person, but that was just the fun part. Inside he was an amazingly kind and loving man, not just to his own family but to "orphans" like us, who he treated like family. I will never forget how much fun he and my mother had during their time together, or his extraordinary devotion during her final illness. I'm just sorry we weren't here when he was ill to let him know how much we loved him, and we miss him today as though he just left yesterday. Our deepest sympathy to his family, and thanks for sharing him.

To the Lee family,my sincere sympathies and condolences. As a former coach and athletic director, at Central Falls High School I always looked forward to speaking with your Dad during and following a game. He always had a great outlook on the day's events and a great line to sum up the activity of the day. He will be missed by one and all.

Seeing Dick and my mom together was such a treat. He made a difference in our family. I wish we had lived closer to you all so that we could've gotten to know each other better. I enjoy thinking of them continuing their friendship beyond here. And I do hope there's many arias for them to hear together.

Rich - Tony and I were sorry to hear of your dad's passing. What an extraordinary career and life he had - you must all be so proud. As a child of of the time when there were few sports for girls I was so touched to hear how much he championed that - I didn't realize to such a great degree! Our sympathies and thoughts are with you and your family as you celebrate his life and remember him this week.

Mr. Lee was a second father to me growing up in East Greenwich. I remember him and his entire family fondly as we were all a "gang". He is and always will be a part of the good memories of my younger years. His passing was a total surprise and it floored me. There aren't enough good things to say about him. I will miss him.

Where do we even start? Dick was such an original, never met anyone remotely like him. The world is a poorer (and duller!) place without him. His family is a testament to what a great guy he was--he knew what was important in life, and it often involved bacon. I hate to think of not seeing him again, and hearing the latest convoluted tale about--something, anything. He was a smart, kind guy! We are thinking of you all during this difficult time, and we are so sorry.

My deepest sympathy to all of you. I remember your father out in the yard when I was a child. Your father was always so kind to all the kids in the neighborhood. The last of the original residents from our street. He will always be with you in your memories.

I'm deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Mr. Lee. I have been serving him for the last 9 years at Fitzys and he has become a dear friend. I have loved the endless hours of his stories and talks about my kids sports teams. He quite often would come in late afternoon so I could sit and chat with him when it was quiet. It was how I came to realize I went to school with 2 of his grandchildren and then we had more stories to tell. All the staff at Fitzys Pub send their sympathies and will miss his smile and always charming personality.
