Richard Taft Obituary
Born in Woonsocket, son of the late George and Alice (Gagne) Taft, Richard worked as a laborer in textile at Desman Mills in Woonsocket for several years prior to retiring. He was a member of the Kennedy Manor Social Club. Richard enjoyed playing BINGO, making puzzles, and was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed driving his scooter along with his wife, taking daily trips through the city, and meeting family and friends in their travels.
Besides his loving wife Muriel, he is survived by seven sons, Richard W. Taft Jr. of Maine; Michael A. Taft of Maine; Paul and his wife Pauline Belisle of Woonsocket; Marc G. Taft of Maine; Gilbert Belisle of Millville; Kevin Taft of Maine; and Brian and his wife Lisa Taft of Woonsocket. He is also survived by one sister, Shirley Taft of Woonsocket, and one brother, Henry Taft of Texas; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was also the brother of the late George and William Taft and Gail Burr.
A Funeral Home Service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 7 PM in the S.DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1583 Diamond Hill Rd. Woonsocket. Relatives and friends are invited; calling hours are from 4-7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Jean the Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham, at a later date.

Dear Muriel & family. I'm sorry for your loss. Richard was a good guy. A guy who loved & cherished his family & friends. He made me smile a lot at my lowest times. I recently saw him at the bingo. Its such a shame. Such a shock. We will no longer see him ride across the city w / his wife which he loved & enjoyed to be with very much.
