Rita E. Menard

1921 - 2022

Rita E. (Plasse) Menard, 100, of Blackstone, MA passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at home with loving family by her side. She is the beloved wife of the late Charles A. Menard. Born in Blackstone, MA on June 13, 1921, she is the daughter of the late Napoleon and Lea (Girard) Plasse. She is the mother of Sylvia Fontaine of Burrillville, RI and her late husband Raymond, Charles R. Menard and his wife, Patricia of Glendale, RI, Violet Theroux of Blackstone, MA, Lucien A. Menard and his wife, Linda of Florida, Maurice E. Menard and his wife, Jeanne of Woonsocket, RI, Jeannette Menard of Wrentham, MA and the late Madeline Martineau and her husband, Bruce of Florida. She leaves her cherished 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She is the sister of the late Aldor, Theodore, Roland, Leonard, Cecile and Bernadette Plasse, Florence Guilmette and Violet Hogue. She also leaves her many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Menard was a resident of Blackstone for most of her life. She worked as an assembler at Colby Glass in Woonsocket. She was a communicant of St. Theresa Church.
Mrs. Menard was honored in June 2021 by the Blackstone Historical Commission and was presented the Boston Post Cane in recognition of being Blackstone's Eldest Resident. She also received a citation from Massachusetts Governor Baker.
Funeral will be held on Thursday, January 6th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM at St. Theresa Church, 630 Rathbun St., Blackstone, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Rita E. Menard to the Blackstone Senior Center or Aging Well Senior Services of Woonsocket would be appreciated.
