Robert J. "ROOSTER" Carpenter

1928 - 2018

WOONSOCKET - Robert "ROOSTER" J. Carpenter, 89, of Cumberland Hill Road, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the Friendly Home, Woonsocket. He was the husband of Mary
(Bentley) Carpenter, and they had been married for the past 65 years. He resided in Woonsocket for most of his life, previously residing in Cumberland.
As a United States Army Veteran, Robert served in the Korean War, attaining the rank of Sergeant.
Mr. Carpenter was employed at the Cumberland Foundry for over 40 years. He was previously employed at Drapers Foundry, Bay State Bronze and Aluminum Inc. and Canton Bronze Inc.
Robert enjoyed country music, fishing, boating and camping. He was a founding member and past president of the RI Beach Buggy Association, which later became the RI Mobile Sports Fisherman Association. He was also member of the Cumberland Beagle Club.
Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Patrick Carpenter of North Brookfield, MA, Robert Carpenter Jr. of Cranston, and James Carpenter of Harrisville; his grandchildren, Carrie Piette of Washington State, Christopher Carpenter of North Brookfield, MA, and Ashley Carpenter of Boston, MA; as well as his great-grandchildren, Madison Piette, Michael Piette, and Rylan Piette. He was the father of the late Judith Carpenter.
Family and friends are kindly invited to honor and remember Bob's life on Friday at 9 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in the St. John Vianney Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial with military honors will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
Visiting Hours will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 PM.
