Robert E. Darling Sr.

WOONSOCKET - Robert E Darling Sr. 88, died March 4, 2016 at his home in Port St Lucie, FL. He was the husband of the late Lorraine F. (Fournier) Darling. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Walter and Julienne (Verhulst) Darling.
Bob served in the US Navy during WWII. He graduated from LaSalle Academy, Providence College and the New England School of Fine Arts and Sciences. He was a funeral director and Vice President of the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home where he worked for over 45 years. His work ethic, and commitment to his craft were a large part of the enduring legacy of Fournier & Fournier.
Bob was a member of the Woonsocket Rotary Club for over fifty years and served as President from 1970-1971. He was a life member of the Woonsocket Lodge of Elks. He was a horse owner and breeder for many years and a member of the former Boots and Saddle Club.
He is survived by his daughter Renee E Darling and her husband Ronald Miller of Woonsocket, two sons Robert E Darling Jr. and his wife Donna of Fort Pierce, FL and Robert Peloquin and his wife Betty of Inverness, FL, his longtime companion Marie O'Brien of Port St. Lucie, FL, seven grandchildren; Elliot, Kali, Mariah, Renay, Christopher, Sarah and Kyle, and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Normand Darling.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church, Rathbun St. Woonsocket.
