Samuel B. Simpson

BURRILLVILLE - Samuel B. Simpson, 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2017 at Bayberry Commons in Pascoag. Born in Cowpens, SC, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Parr) Simpson. He moved to RI with his family when he was six months old. He graduated from Burrillville High School in 1943 and from there served in the US Navy during WWII as a Radarman 3rd Class from 1943 to 1946. He was Honorably discharged with several medals from the Pacific Theater. He attended Drew University in NJ as well as Brown University.
He married Theresa Bertrand on June 26, 1948 and raised four children: Michael Simpson of Harrisville, Bradford Simpson of Lincoln, Pamela Ethier of Glocester and Scott Simpson of Pascoag. He has eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: John, William and Paul Simpson and three sisters: Charlotte McKee, Elizabeth Sherman and Mary Mowry.
Sam was employed by Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. for 29 years, 20 of which as Sales Manager. He was co-owner of Simpson & Young Insurance Agency from 1984 to 2008. Sam was a past president of the Burrillville Lions Club, past treasurer of Burrillville Little League, former member of Burrillville School Committee and former member and treasurer of Community Baptist Church.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 11 AM in the Boucher Funeral Home, 272 Sayles Ave. Pascoag, with calling hours from 10 to 11 AM preceding the service. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Burrillville.
