Simone J. St. Amand

MANVILLE - Simone J. St. Amand, 94, of Manville died Wednesday evening at home surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of the late Albert P. St. Amand. They were married on October 20, 1945 and shared over 30 years together until his passing in 1977.
Born in Woonsocket and raised in Manville she was a daughter of the late Elphege and Rhea (Carriere) Dufresne.
For over 58 years she made her home in Atlantic Beach, Florida before returning to Manville to reside with her family.
Mrs. St. Amand was employed at Gulf Life Insurance Company in Jacksonville for many years.
Simone liked to exercise her talents for knitting and crocheting, enjoyed bowling and walking the beach. She cherished her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother with every new arrival in the family.
She is survived by her daughter Lorraine C. Gladu and her husband, Roger, of Manville, three sons Paul G. St. Amand and his wife, Barbara Krieger, of Rockport, MA., Robert E. St. Amand of Santa Barbara, CA and Raymond M. St. Amand of Arizona. She was the sister of the late Gerard Dufresne. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and their families.
Her funeral will be Monday at 10:00 am from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 71 Central St. Manville followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. James Church, Division St. Manville. Visiting hours are Sunday from 2-5 pm. Burial in the H. Warren Smith Cemetery in Jacksonville Beach, FL will be at a later date.
