Willie L. Scurry III

WOONSOCKET - Willie L. Scurry III, 69, of Rebekah St. died, Tuesday, May 5, 2015 in Landmark Medical Center with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Shirley A. (Nealy) Scurry of Woonsocket.
Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Willie L. and Josephine (Collins) Scurry II.
Willie worked as a Psychology Rehabilitation Specialist at Northern RI Mental Health Center for several years.
He was also a graduate of Johnson & Wales University and received a Masters Degree in Business. He was owner and operator of Roots Limited for several years.
He served as a Deacon at St. James Baptist Church and also served on the Ministry. Willie sang in the Church Choir, and belonged to The Men's Fellowship Group.
He also sang with the group Inspirations.
Willie was always ready to help everyone and loved his family deeply.
Besides his beloved wife Shirley, he is survived by his three children; Willie L. Scurry IV of Woonsocket, Detrick L. and his wife Shannon Scurry of Pascoag, and Denitra R. Scurry-Pearson, and her husband James of West Haven, CT.
One foster child, Christine Rogers of Woonsocket.
Two sisters; Queenester Dowdy of Woonsocket, and Gwendolyn and her husband Carl Durden, of Woonsocket.
One aunt, Ulersee Alan, and one uncle, Harmon Scurry and his wife Mildred, all of Woonsocket.
He also was the brother of the late Verna Mae Scurry.
His Funeral Service will be held on Saturday May 16, 2015, at 11 A. M. in St. James Baptist Church, South Main St. Woonsocket, RI. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, North Smithfield, RI.
Relatives and friends are invited; Calling hours will be held on Friday evening from 6-9 PM
in St. James Baptist Church. The S.DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1583 Diamond Hill Rd., Woonsocket, RI is in charge of the arrangements.
