Bernetta Rogers Obituary

Bernetta Maretta Rogers was born June 29, 1952 in Montgomery, AL at Maxwell Air Force Base, to William and Nedlean Rogers. She spent her early childhood years in Montgomery before moving to Rockford, IL with her parents. She attended Rockford Public Schools and graduated from Rockford East High School. Bernetta was an avid reader and loved music and dance. She had a wide smile and a laugh that lit up every room. Her circle of friends was tight-knit. She was private but caring. She gave to others wholeheartedly. Bernetta was very generous. Bernetta lived her adult years in Chicago,Illinois. She spent her career in working in the hospitality field. Bernetta was employed by Carson Pirie Scott & Company. She later was employed by Hilton Hotels for over twenty years. She had a great work ethic and continued the love of serving others even when her health began to fail.Bernetta was a woman of great faith and hope in God. As a youth, Bernetta was an active member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church where she participated in Sunday School, church pageants and the youth choir. In Chicago, she united with Turner Memorial A.M.E. Church and Faith Temple Legacy Church perspectively. Bernetta grew to become a great prayer warrior and intercessor. She often stood in the gap for family and friends as well as those whom she was hospitalized with. Bernetta is survived by her brother William (Aurea) Rogers of Tacoma, Washington, sister: Mari Kay Rogers of Rockford, IL; nieces: Jodi Stewart, Toni Rogers, Arneta (Shira) Rogers; nephews: Brian (Kim) Stewart, Christopher Todd (Angela) Rogers, Chad Jackson-Rogers, Kevin (Lauren) Rayford; great-nieces: Christin Rogers, Jordyn Rogers, Carmen Rogers, Kimori Rayford, August Tevah-Rogers; greatnephews:Trenton Rogers, Timothy Lewis,Jr., Travious Rogers, Landon Rogers, Jamison Rogers; cousins: Betty Mahone, Charlean Byrd, Charlie Byrd,Jr.; special cousin: Annette (Sol)Truehill; as well as a host of other family and friends.Predeceased by her parents, William Rogers,Sr.,and Nedlean Rogers; maternal grandparents: Ned and Margaret Sippial; paternal grandparents: Albert Rogers,Sr.,and Bertha Rogers; four aunts and one uncle.
