Janet A. Gearhart

Janet A. Gearhart died at Rock Haven Nursing Home on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at the age of 77. She was a life-long resident of Beloit and a graduate of Beloit Catholic High School. On July 15, 1965, she married Douglas J. Gearhart, also of Beloit, who died in 2015. Recently, she suffered from dementia and a brain-bleed causing a mild stroke leaving her with some paralysis. Jan worked in Dr. Englebretson's dental office, Lutheran Social Services, and as a secretary at Hononegah High School in Rockton, IL from which she retired. She was a member of Hope Evangelical Church in Roscoe and sang in its choir from many years. She loved spending time with her cherished "Happy Hookers" crochet group, where laughter and yarn were always in good supply. Whether crafting something beautiful or simply sharing stories, these moments brought her true joy. Above all, she treasured time spent with her friends and family, filling every gathering with warmth, humor, and love. She is survived by her three daughters: Chris (Bill) Dagenhart of Milton, WI; Connie (Michael) Rankins of O'Fallon, MO; and Laurie (Roosevelt) Reid of Greensboro, GA; and her brother, Ronald Story of Kenosha, WI; as well as six grandchildren, Zachary (Ashley) Timm, Meghan (JR) Negus, Joshua and Trevor Rankins, Dustin (Kenzi) Aguilar, Miranda (Justin) Carden; and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Ronald S. Story, also of Beloit. A Funeral Service for Janet will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 in the Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI with Pastor Casey Ehlers officiating. Visitation of Remembrance will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2025 in the funeral home. Visitation will also be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Tuesday in the funeral home.
