Janice Burandt Obituary
Janice Annette Burandt, 87, of Beloit, WI, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025. She was born on October 18, 1937 in Summit Ridge, Norwalk, WI, to Bernard "Bud" and Alice Rapp. Jan met the love of her life Donald while she was in college and they were married June 20, 1959 at St. John Baptist Catholic Church, Summit Ridge, Norwalk, WI. They welcomed their son John, in Minneapolis while Don finished his residency, and their daughter Mary, while serving in the Army, After the Army, Jan and Don settled in Beloit, WI, where they were lifelong residents. Jan's children and family were important to her, as was her strong support of the Beloit community and her faith. Jan was a member of Topical Review and a book club. She volunteered as a Girl Scout leader at Morgan School for many years and in the Morgan School library. Jan was also a Eucharist Minister for Our Lady of the Assumption Parish until her health prevented her from doing so. After Jan and Don's kids went off to college, they increased the amount of travel that they did with friends and family. They enjoyed traveling around the world meeting new people and seeing so many things. Jan did think Don took an awful lot of pictures of churches and castles on their many adventures, and she might have been right on that point. Jan was fluent in French and it wasn't unusual for her to slip in some French phrases here and there just to keep you on your toes. Jan loved reading and playing bridge with her friends. They said it wasn't competitive but based on the conversations that were overheard at times, you always knew who came in first that evening. Jan took up knitting later in life, as physical therapy for breaking her wrist. Many family members received knitted sweaters, especially the grandchildren. Jan is survived by her two children, John (Tracy) Burandt and Mary (Dave) Biancosino; four grandchildren, Andrew Burandt, Christopher Burandt, Elizabeth (Seth) Caba and Michael Biancosino; great-grandson, Bentley Caba; many nieces and nephews. Jan was predeceased by her parents. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Riverside Terrace Assisted Living and the hospice staff who took care of Jan, and for the kindness extended to the family through everything. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2025 in the Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 2222 Shopiere Road, Beloit, WI, with Fr. Jim Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. A visitation of remembrance will be from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Friday in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Beloit Regional Hospice or the Wisconsin Institute for medical research.
