Steven Cofoid

1964 - 2025

Steven Scott Cofoid, long-time local resident, passed away on April 2, 2025. Born on December 1, 1964, in Beloit, Wisconsin, everyone described Steve as one of the kindest people they knew. A loving husband, compassionate father, and dedicated community member, his footprint on this world was significant and memorable. Steve lived his life with a commitment to the things he held dear. He was a devoted family man, cherishing every moment with his wife, Terri, of 33 years and his children, Adam and Kirsten. The proud recipient of Hononegah's Kelsey Award in 1983, Steve's resilience and dedication were recognized and celebrated. His dedication to the school and its sports programs was reflective of his love for playing sports, coaching, and coordinating athletic events. Steve also found joy in playing slow-pitch softball, trapshooting, hunting, golfing, and indulging in sweets and beer. Steve's life was marked by significant milestones. Playing baseball throughout his collegiate career, he attended Rock Valley College and Aurora University. Steve also held a master's degree from National-Louis University. Despite his many accomplishments, what mattered most to Steve was his family and Hononegah High School, where he worked for 19 years, serving as Assistant Principal and Athletic Director. Steve is survived by wife, Terri Cofoid; children, Adam (Adri) Cofoid and Kirsten (Cade) Best; grandchildren, Sutton Cofoid and Bennett Best; brother, Michael (Sandy) Cofoid; uncle, Charles Robinson; and many nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Ramona Cofoid, brothers, Gregory and Gary Cofoid, and nephew, Brian Cofoid. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2025 in McCorkle Funeral Home in Rockton, IL. Cremation Rites were Accorded. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Hononegah Hope Foundation.
