Toya Finika Toyer

Toya Finika Toyer, 50, of Janesville, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Friday, April 25, 2025. Toya was born on Thursday, April 3, 1975, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Sam and Phyllis (Thompson) Smith. In 1993, she graduated from Bogan High School in Chicago. Toya married Edward Lungino Walter Toyer on April 28, 1995, in Chicago. Toya had a smile that would change anyone's frown, her presence was positive through her entire community. She was loved and cared for not just by her family but many friends as well. Toya always put her children first, no matter how old they were. She carried their burdens as if they were her own. Toya never passed judgment on her children and her love was everlasting throughout their lives. She was not only a mother, but was also a teacher, protector, and friend to her children and was also their strength. Toya's love was like no other. She got married to stay married no matter the challenge. Not only was Toya a wife, but she was also her husband's best friend. Toya will fondly be remembered as the TikTok Queen and had over 7,000 followers. Toya is survived by her husband, Edward Toyer; children, Latoya Toyer, Antwonn Toyer, Edward Toyer, and Sandy Toyer; grandchildren, Landis Godwin, Eva Simmons, Lyric Godwin, La'Jazone Godwin, Lathan Godwin; siblings, Sam Thompson, B.J Thompson, and Dionne Conyers; a host of nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Dethra Anderson; brother-in-law, Nathaniel Anderson; along with numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a nephew, Sam Thompson Jr. Special thank you to Gertie Harris and Estelle Grimes for always being there for Toya and her family.
