Bettie Devine Kennedy Obituary

Bettie Devine Kennedy, a cherished member of her community, passed away on February 3, 2025, at Pine Meadows in Bolivar, Tennessee. She was born on November 27, 1937, in Smithville, Mississippi to the late Aura and Eunice Kennedy, and lived a life dedicated to helping others, both personally and professionally.

Bettie was well-respected as the Chief Lab Director at Fort Walton and Destin hospitals in Florida, where her passion for the medical field shone brightly. Her intelligence and independence were hallmarks of her personality, which endeared her to those fortunate enough to know her. Bettie's dedication to her career was matched only by her love for reading, spending time at the beach, and her competitive spirit showcased through numerous trophies won in bowling and her delightful hobby of coin collecting.

A proud graduate of Smithville High School, Bettie continued her education with a bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University, reflecting her commitment to learning and growth. Throughout her life, she remained grounded in her roots and carried with her a favorite saying: "I love you More!" This simple phrase resonated deeply with her family and friends, embodying the affection she shared with those around her.

Bettie's legacy continues through her loving family, including her niece Cindy and her nephews Dudley Kennedy Jr. and Marlin Flurry. She cherished her great nephews, Brian Kennedy, Daniel Kennedy, and Adam Flurry, along with her great nieces Amanda Kennedy and Shelby Ervin. Bettie also leaves behind a host of great-great nieces and nephews who will carry her memory forward.

Bettie is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Aura and Eunice Kennedy, as well as her brothers Dudley and Thomas Kennedy. Their memories will forever be intertwined with hers, a testament to the nurturing spirit she exemplified throughout her life.

Her graveside service will be held on February 7, 2025, at New Hope Cemetery in Amory, Mississippi, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, where family and friends can come together to celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who touched so many through her unwavering commitment to others.
