Graveside service with military honors will follow in the Westminster Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Born on February 15, 1949, in Tippah County, Mr. Robbins was the son of the late Curtis Montroy and Sallie Etta Hatcher Robbins. He was a 1968 graduate of Pine Grove High School, who was sent to Vietnam for his senior trip, where he proudly enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country with honor and devotion. Upon his return home, on August 23, 1969, Mr. Robbins married his beloved wife, Mrs. Sarah Dianne Lacy Robbins, who preceded him in death. Together they built a home rooted in love and faith, raising their children with strong Christian values. A man who never shied away from hard work, he was employed with Profile for many years until his retirement.
A faithful Christian and member of Turners Chapel, Mr. Robbins loved the Lord with all his heart. He found joy in being in church, often sharply dressed and ready to worship, and delighted in studying and devouring the words of Scripture daily. His life was a shining example of Christian devotion, providing his family with an unwavering source of strength and guidance. Outside of church, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his John Deere tractor, and listening to the timeless classics of his favorite, George Jones. While steadfast in faith, Mr. Robbins was also known for his stubborn streak, his plainspoken honesty, and his tendency to embellish the truth from time to time-especially when it came to his nurses. Nevertheless, those who knew him best understood that beneath his strong will was a man whose heart was devoted to caring for and protecting his family.
Whether he was known as Mr. Robbins, JR, or simply "Pa," his presence filled the hearts of all who knew him. Though his earthly journey has ended, his legacy will continue to shine brightly in countless ways. Every George Jones song that plays, every fishing pole cast into still waters, every tractor rumbling across a field, and even every dessert enjoyed before a meal will serve as gentle reminders of the man we loved. His life was woven into so many moments-large and small-that his memory will never fade. In faith, family, laughter, and love, Mr. Robbins' legacy lives on, leaving behind a heritage that will be cherished for generations to come.
Those left to cherish his memories include one daughter, Jo Barkley (Alan Borden), two sisters, Debbie McCall, and Kay Young, one brother, John Robbins (Suzanne), four grandchildren, J. D. Chapman (Claudia), Kayla Harris (Davion), Laken Bridges (Andrew), and Crystal Borden, eight great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is also preceded in death by one daughter, Jennifer Cissom, son in law, Terry Hall Barkley, infant brother, Curtis Troy, and two brother in laws, Joe Young and Billy McCall.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Ethan Chapman, Aiden Jarvis, Stetson "Booger" Hicks, Michael "Beagle" Bellew, Creighton Chapman, and Shane Bourg. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy and Pam Hare.
The family would like to express a special thanks to nurses, Heather Cornelius and Whitney Walker, along with Enhabit Hospice for their devotion and care given to Mr. Robbins during his time of sickness. There love and loyalty will never be forgotten.
