Robert Wilson Obituary

Robert "Bobby" Lee Wilson, 72, of Starkville, Mississippi, joined Jesus in heaven on June 19, 2025. Born on July 6, 1952, in Brookhaven, Mississippi, Bobby grew up in Hazlehurst & Martinsville and was an active member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. He attended Copiah-Lincoln Junior College before earning a bachelor's degree in Animal Science from Mississippi State University. While at MSU, Bobby met the love of his life, Betty Sue Jackson. The two built a life rooted in faith, love and hard work. Bobby began his professional career with GoldKist, Inc. and later transitioned into the pharmaceutical industry, retiring from Novartis in 2019. A natural people-person and gifted salesman, Bobby never met a stranger. His big personality, quick wit, and signature sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone he met. In 2011, they embraced a slower pace in Starkville, and Bobby fully retired in 2019-becoming a full-time, passionate Bulldog fan. His enthusiasm for all things MSU was well known and joyfully shared. Bobby was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Starkville, and the church's Empty Nesters Community Group, where he served as both a deacon and greeter. He also served on the Spring Hill Baptist Cemetery committee. He loved the Lord deeply and was devoted to his church, his wife, his family, and his many friends. He was also a proud member and supporter of the Starkville Quarterback Club, Starkville Country Club, the Starkville Gun Club and The Bulldog Club. In his free time, Bobby enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, traveling, and sharing laughter with countless special friends. Known for his larger-than-life personality and infectious sense of humor, Bobby's signature love for bold, "loud" ties will live on in fond memory. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Augusta Emmett "Lit" and Pearlie Inez Wilson (Lupo) of Martinsville, Mississippi and sister-in-law Joyce Murray of Greenwood. He is survived by his wife, Betty Sue (Jackson); his sister, June Pybas (Paul) of Madison; his Wilson brother-in-law Tommy Smith and nephews, Tom Smith (Yvonne) of Sugar Land, Texas, and Will Smith (Mary Ann) of Brentwood, Tennessee; and his beloved great-nieces and nephews: Caitlin, Trent, Carter, and Amelia. He also leaves behind his brother-in-laws Johnny Jackson, James Jackson and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him dearly. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to: Spring Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Martha Odom, 10079 Hwy 51, Wesson, MS 39191

My heart is broken, truly broken. Bobby was one of the best men I know and I was lucky to have him as my cousin. He was like a big brother who I knew, without a doubt, would always be there for anyone that needed anything. He told me a story about he looked up to my Dad and wanted to be like him. There were so many stories and I loved listening to him tell them. I´m going to miss him terribly, but I have comfort knowing that one day I´ll be able to resume the story time. Gosh, I loved him. Sending prayers to Betty Sue, his whole world, June and the rest of the family.

Betty Sue and Family,
My heart is broken after hearing about the passing of my cousin Bobby. I have so many memories of him, like the time he came to stay with my family in Westpoint, Ms. I think that was the first time I meet Betty Sue.
Even though we didn't see each other as we should have, I think about all the memories I have growing up and how Bobby resembled my Dad.
The Love that Bobby and Betty Sue had was one in a million.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Love,
Lynn Lupo

Bobby was just a wonderful man. You never saw Bobby without a huge smile on his face. I know heaven is a better place today with Bobby Wilson.
