Frances Perdue Obituary


FRANCES (HYDE) PERDUE, 92, of Charleston died Monday, August 18, 2025 at Hubbard Hospice House.
Frances graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley in 1951 and was a 1954 graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing. Her nursing career included work at Raleigh General, the VA in Beckley, Kanawha Valley Hospital, as well as private-duty nursing.
She was a prolific reader and a sports fan. For many years, she participated in water aerobic classes, first at the YWCA and later the YMCA, which led to many loving and lasting friendships. She also shared a special bond with her extended family of Wilkie Drive neighbors.
As a testament to her fun-loving and adventurous spirit, Frances zip lined at adventures on the Gorge when she was 80.
Born April 26, 1933, at Stover, WV., she was the daughter of the late, John Jay and Eva (Shumate) Hyde. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Millard Perdue, whom she married on New Year's Eve in 1955, and a brother, William Elmo Hyde.
Surviving are son, Charles William Perdue (Peggy) of Lake Chaweva and daughter, Eva of Charleston.
Frances will be laid to rest at Graceland Memorial Park privately. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
