REX LEON GOOD, 94, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025. He was born at Belgrove, WV to the late Ova Roscoe and Bessie Thomas Good.
He was proceeded in death by his children, William Rex Good, Teresa Elaine Spradling; great grandson, Abram Spradling; sisters, Leona Fisher, Phyllis Burdette and husband, Charles Burdette, and Lorene Postlethwait; sister-in-law, Reva Good.
Surviving are his wife of 70 years Elaine; children, Rick (Kathy) of Barboursville, Doug (Stephanie) of Sissonville; siblings, Loretta Shuster of St. Paul MN, Rondall Good of Stoneville NC, Jerry Good of Fayetteville, Judy Good (Tom) of Laurel MD, David Good (Brenda) of Poca; brothers-in-law, Arthur Fisher of Sissonville, Art Postlethwait of St. Albans; grandchildren Cory Good of Louisville KY, Christopher Good of Sissonville, Casey Good (Cassandra) of Huntington, James Spradling (Emily) of Hurricane, Christina Graley (Dave) of Baltimore MD, Meghan Good (Kane) of Sissonville, Morgan Good (Colin) of Hocking Hills OH, Kristina McGlone of Barboursville; great grandchildren, Cassidy Good of Huntington, Myles Good of Huntington, Harper Thomas of Hocking Hills OH, Kevin Payton of Barboursville, Travis Payton of Barboursville, Silas Spradling and Rosalie Spradling of Hurricane; many nephews, nieces, and extended family.
Rex graduated from Ripley High School in 1948 where he played football. He then joined the US Air Force and was stationed at Williams Air Force base in Chandler, Arizona becoming an aircraft mechanic and played for the base football team being voted team MVP in 1950. He was honorably discharged in 1952 with a rank of Sergeant. He then went on to work for the Western Electric Company where he worked as a central office equipment installer retiring in 1983 after 31 years' service and was a member of the Communications Workers of America. He also operated a small mobile home park in Sissonville. Following retirement Rex enjoyed raising a large vegetable garden, tending to his properties, and collecting various items in case he ever needed them.
The family would like to express their gratitude to his home care providers Jennifer Rollins, Brenda Fisher, Gayla Tincher, Maycie Rollins, and handyman Frank Johnson; CAMC physicians and nurses, VA home care medical team, and the Hubbard Hospice House nurses and staff.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Hospice Care of WV, or to the Disabled Veterans of America.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on April 5, 2025 at Long & Fisher Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories.
Visitation will be held from 12 - 1 p.m. before the service.
