My thoughts, prayers, & sympathy to Herb's family. I remember Herb as one of our dedicated workers on the Grounds crew at York College. He took pride in his work---you could always depend on him. When it came time to sign out at the end of his shift he would take a few minutes to chat before leaving for his second job at Voith.
Peace to all his family.

We were out of touch for so many years, Mike, but I'm glad I got to know what a great man you were. My daughter Robin still remembers the long conversation she had with you that one afternoon, even though it was almost 2 yrs ago. She has that fond memory of her Uncle Mike. During your last days when you were home with your daughters, our sister Penny channeled me along with the love and care we both gave you. Be at peace, twin brother. You've earned it.

He is my big brother. Older by 7 years. We called him by his middle name, Mike, since Dad's name was Herb too. That avoided the confusion.
We went to the May Fair at the Wellsville school where I attended.
Think I was 9 at the time. A couple older boys had caught me alone in the the deserted hallway and was bullying me. Now Mike was already tall at 16. He comes out of nowhere and launches himself at the boys and they ran away like puppy dogs with their tails between their legs.
He liked to talk like John Wayne on the phone and he'd say, Waa-haa lil sister, whuts up?
Even when he was dying of cancer and confined to bed, weak as he was, he still stood up for me on Skype, and gave me away at my wedding.
Rest easy big brother. You well earned it. But I sure miss you terribly.

Missy, Ash, Caity, and Jason, we are so very sorry for your loss and even though we are unable to be there with you, we want you to know you all are in our thoughts and prayers and we love you all very much. Your Dad was an amazing man and I was so fortunate to have him as my uncle for many years. He will be missed tremendously.

We were so saddened to hear Herb lost his fight yesterday, but grateful to know his physical pain is gone. Your dad was the best neighbor; always there to help, before I thought to ask. Can't remember one time our chats didn't include laughter. Wow that grin of his lit up his whole face! And the joy he seemed to experience when given the chance to hop on that tractor of his, is something I know I'll smile of often. You kids will remain in our hearts and prayers always.
