Chris Clark Obituary

HAMLET, N.C. — Christopher Morgan Clark, 50, of Hamlet, passed away Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016 at his home. He was born June 10, 1966, son of Jerry and Jane McManus Clark.

Chris had been employed with the City of Hamlet for 27 years. He was a volunteer fireman with Hamlet Fire and Rescue and earned Volunteer of the Year honors 12 years in a row. Chris was on the board of the Seaboard Festival Committee for many years. He was a member of the Richmond Raider High School football officiating crew, keeping down and distance information, for a number of years. Chris enjoyed fishing and hunting. He had a heart of gold, and his passion was helping people.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John Mitchell Clark and Lucille Barbee Clark and maternal grandparents, Herbert Morgan McManus and Mary Helen Sugg McManus.

Chris is survived by his parents, Jerry and Jane Clark of Rockingham; a brother, Scott (Julie) Clark of Raleigh; nieces, Camden and Cayda Clark; nephew, Graham Clark; aunts and uncles, Sylvia and Ron Ballard, Helen Peele and Carol and Rick O'Brien; and a special friend, Charlotte Cowan.

A memorial service to celebrate Chris's life will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday at First Presbyterian Church in Hamlet with CRE Belinda Rice officiating and interment to follow at Richmond County Memorial Park. The family will see friends in the fellowship hall of the church from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service.

The family is receiving visitors at the home of Chris' parents, 1468 Cumberland Circle, Rockingham.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 200 Rice Street, Hamlet, NC 28345.

Watson-King Funeral Home in Hamlet is assisting the Clark family.
