Joseph Butcher Obituary

Joseph A. Butcher

August 31, 1948 - February 17, 2022

Joe died peacefully in his retirement home in Yuma, AZ. He was born into the small oil and farming community of Cleveland, OK, where most close family members also lived. It was a great place to be from, fishing, hunting and roaming free.

He moved with the family to the San Francisco Bay area at an impressionable age and loved it. After graduating from Richmond High School, his first semester at college was interrupted by enlisting in the Marines. He served in Viet Nam in the 2nd battalion of the 4th Marines in microwave radio communication. After discharge, he married his high school sweetheart and joined Pac Bell's workforce where he remained until early retirement during the ATT merger.

Joe and his second wife sold their home and toured the U.S. in their fifth wheel. Enjoying the snow bird experience in Yuma, AZ, they bought a home and remained year round. Joe became an entrepreneur, selling nutritional supplements at various Yuma markets where he made great long-term friends.

After a second retirement, he moved to a smaller home in the Foothills. He suffered a major accident at home in 2021, and his health slowly declined.

Joe was predeceased by his parents, a daughter, sister and significant other.

He is survived by two ex's, three children, two sisters, a significant other, ten grandchildren and numerous friends, nieces and nephews.

Memorials are pending.
