Ruben Coriano Obituary
Dr. Coriano earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Chemistry from the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. He then moved on to graduate from the University of Connecticut and a Yale affiliated medical program at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut with degrees in Internal Medicine. During his education, Dr. Coriano worked as a chemist for General Electric before earning a position as an Internist and Medical Director for Valley Health Center in Yuma, Arizona. He was a licensed doctor in Arizona, California and Puerto Rico. Dr. Coriano worked as a clinical lecturer at the University of Arizona and was the Chairman of the Department of Medicine at the Yuma Regional Medical Center. He also spent time working as the lead hospitalist for the Carondelet Medical Group in Tucson, Arizona and as an Internal Medicine consultant for the Arizona Department of Corrections in Yuma, Arizona before opening his own practice in Yuma. He was a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
In addition to his practice and time in the medical field, Dr. Coriano was known for his compassionate spirit and his drive to help others, which was shown during his time as a U.S. National Guard Captain and front line Trauma Evacuation Hospital Physician in Operation Desert Storm. He served until his honorable discharge in April 2000. Dr. Coriano was a devout Catholic who blended his strong faith in Christianity with his expertise in his medical practice. This unique approach to medicine endeared him with his many patients. Dr. Coriano enjoyed observing his faith, reading, movies, and music.
Dr. Coriano is predeceased by his mother, Gabriela Coriano and is survived by his wife, Teresa Coriano, his children, Ruben Coriano and wife Paula, Nicholas Coriano and his wife Brittany, Stacie Phillips and her husband Justin, Carlos and Crystal Coriano, grandchildren, Dylan and Presley Phillips, his sister Mildred Memoli and brother-in-law, Robert Memoli Sr., his nieces Melody Curran and Meghan Memoli, his nephew and godson Robert Memoli Jr., his cousins Josephine Gaspar, Maria Resto and Peter Resto and his beloved dog Coco.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria del Angel / Kammann on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
Church Services will be Friday, July 7, 2017 at 11:00 am and will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with burial immediately following at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.

Dr. Coriano was my husband's father. I had the privilege of meeting him last summer in July 2016. I will never forget sitting across the table from Dr. Coriano in awe of his compassion, wit and sense of humor. My husband is so much like his dad from his looks to his mannerisms to his personality. Dr. Coriano tended my parents until their deaths at 86 and 84. He has tended most of my family for about 16 years. His death brings to a close an era of knowing we had prompt access to a doctor who was unsurpassed in his ability and willingness to provide top flight care.

Dr. Coriano was my physician for almost 13 years. He was a caring doctor. He was not only concerned with my physical well being but also very attentive to listen to whatever was in my heart and mind that affected my health. He cared about what happened to me and my family, he was ready to listen whenever possible and gave me good advice. My prayers are with his family. Dr. Coriano was my physician for many years. He also cared for my wife Connie. When I moved to Phoenix, I would still drive to Yuma to seek his care. Ruben was kind, thoughtful, and an excellent physician. And more than that, he was my friend.
I know this is a difficult time for his family, but they should remember his great faith. Think about these words:
