James Starrett Obituary

DUNCAN FALLS: James Buchanan Starrett, 86 of Duncan Falls, passed away 10:30 a.m. February 15, 2010 at Morrison House, Genesis Hospice.
Jim was born July 6th, 1923 in Rural Dale, OH; the son of the late Ray and Sara (Buchanan) Starrett.
Jim was the owner of Starrett and Son Hardware in Duncan Falls, he graduated from Philo High school in 1941 and attended Meredith Business College in Zanesville. He was a member of the Duncan Falls United Methodist Church, a life time member of the American Legion post #246, VFW Post #1058 and the D.A.V; he served his country in the US Army during WW II, serving in the European Theater.
Jim is survived by his wife of 63 years, Roberta C. (Combs) Starrett whom he married August 25, 1946; his three children, Susan (Gene) Shaheen of Lower Burrell, PA, Rob Starrett of Duncan Falls, and Melissa (Mike) Starrett–King of Blue Rock; four grandchildren, Brent (Sandy) Broderick of Oregonia, OH, Kellie (Tom) Hayden of Gulf Breeze, FL, Sam Starrett of Duncan Falls, and Curtis Gatrell of Blue Rock; and four great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Carol.
Visitations will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday February 18, at the Thompson-Farus Funeral Home, Duncan Falls, where funeral services will be Thursday 1 p.m. with Rev. Darla Revennaugh and Pastor Sturman Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Duncan Falls Cemetery with full military honors by George Selsam Post #1058.
