Theodora Schock Obituary

Theodora H. Schock
April 28, 1933-September 19, 2011
Theodora Harriett (Kline) Schock passed away Monday, September 19, in Tacoma, Washington, after a sudden stroke.
Born April 28, 1933, in Modesto, California, to Alberta June and Harry O. Kline, Theo lived most of her life in Modesto, except for a few years near Trail, Oregon. She attended MJC after graduating from Modesto High in 1951. After a long career working as a branch manager of two libraries within the Stanislaus County Library system, Theo went back to school to get her BA in English from CSU Stanislaus, an MS in Library Science at UC Berkeley, and became a much beloved Children's Librarian at the main library in Modesto.
Theo had a great love of books and reading, and spent many happy hours researching the family history. She was active with the area Genealogical Society, and was for a time the chapter librarian and treasurer. Theo was a long-time member of the College Avenue Congregational Church, where she sang in the choir and sat on several committees. She also enjoyed quilting, and made sure each of her descendants was the recipient of one of her beautiful works of art.
Theo and her husband of 55 years, Keith, moved to Gig Harbor, Washington in the spring of 2010 to be near their daughter. Keith passed away last August 31.
Theo is survived by her daughter Diana Galloway and son-in-law Terry of Chandler, Arizona, daughter Deborah Stephens and son-in-law Charles of Fox Island, Washington, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, along with brothers Neil Kline of Atlanta, Georgia, and Harry Kline and wife Charlotte of Saratoga, California, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at the College Avenue United Church of Christ on Saturday, October 29, at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to any charity of your choice.

My sincere condolences. Would someone please contact children of Mrs. Schock and let them know I would like to invite them back to the house on Grantland. I purchased the home and would like to meet them if they are available after the funeral. Thank you.

A remarkable woman. Diana,Debbie and families, we have known Theo since 1968. Theo loved her family and was involved in many community and church projects. We have missed her in the choir, but knew how much she loved being near her grandchildren and family in Washington. Our love is with you at this time of loss. Nancy & Ed/CACC
