Hello,
We apologize for being so late in expressing our deepest condolences to you and your family. We want you to know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this holiday season and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Eric T. Caldwell US Army Specialist.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families, friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,

My best friend, my brother, (you always introduced me as your sister) my protector I think of all the fun we had all the laughs and smiles. I remember when I went with you to enroll into the Army. I hated the fact that you were going but you took me with you to ensure that everything was ok and you'd be fine. You were so happy that day.... I remember you kept reading the papers they gave you and I remember you said: " I'm not afraid Dominique, and you shouldn't be either, that's why I'm going to protect the ones I love,I'm not afraid to fight for my country." I love you and miss you and the promise i made to you the last time I saw you will never be broken.... You were the kindest person I ever met, full of love. I remember when you always use to kiss the cross you always wore on your neck. Now you are with the King! My guardian angel continue to protect me like you always have! You will always be with me. Peace and love.

This is so hard for me to write because Eric was the most wonderful person I have ever met in my entire life. I hate to imagine life with you here because I would countine looking for you. Now I only see you in my dreams. Every year I look at your pictures wondering if I am just dreaming, but I know you are singing in the course with the angels. I pray strength from those who knew you best and love and blessings forever.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Eric, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

To the Family and friends of Eric Caldwell I send this brief note. I loved him as a brother and will never forget him. I was the last american to see his smile. The last person to have talked to him and the last to hold him in Iraq. I was his Medic. brother friend and confidant. We used to always talk about family. A grand pa his mom and dad, his twin sister and adopted family. nobody seemed to be just a friend to him. We would work out and out on missions He would always watch my back when I dismounted with SSG Burge. He would always yell at me to tell me to get back in the truck. we would always argue about petty things just to let the time pass by. and we loved music. Then Spc. Morgan would serenade us with any song on request.
Know this He never quit doing his job. I beleive to this day that he is still my gaurdian angel just as he was in life. Fair thee well brother save me a seat in heaven and we can both party together with the rest of our brothers. Mahal ka na ako sa aking kaibigan

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Eric Caldwell. I am the mother of a soldier currently serving with the 1st Calvary (1-7) in Iraq. My son is SPC Kyle Bennett. He served with Eric in the 2-8 until 2 weeks before deployment. Kyle spoke of Eric often and thought it was great to have another guy from Maryland in his unit. Kyle grew up across the Bay from Eric in beautiful St. Mary's County. Kyle had the deepest respect for Eric and was deeply affected by this loss. My prayers are with you and your family. May God hold Eric and you in His arms.

To the Family of Eric T. Caldwell,
I know you don’t know me, but I was Eric’s Official Angel. I had sent Eric’s first letter out 4 days before Cathy called to tell me that Eric had passed on. I only wish that I could have gotten to know Eric, he seems like a great guy. The only thing I know about Eric is what I have read on the internet. Of what I have read it seems that he was a hard working guy and never gave up if there was something that he wanted. He had real determination. I want you to know that I will never forget him; even though I never got to talk to him he has changed my life. He has taught me never to give up in there is something I really want to do. I hope you all well and my heart goes out to you.

To All:
I am Eric's uncle and the whole family is so very proud of him. The past several days have been very emotional for everyone. There were 3 funeral services in Gloucester, VA; Salisbury, MD and finally Eric was laid to rest at Arlington Cemetery on Wed 1/17. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his heroism. Each ceremony was somber and beautiful and attended by many, many well wishers and mourners. A special thanks to the Patriot Guard Riders who participated in the Salisbury and Arlington ceremonies. He was loved by so many and will never, never be forgotten. God Bless You Eric...Uncle Vince

To the Family of Spc. Eric T. Caldwell:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

Vannessa and family,
Very sorry to hear of the loss of your son in Iraq. As the country song goes "all gave some, some gave all". Eric gave all. I seved in Vietnam but this war is much different and it is difficult to see all the unrest over there. I knew Laverne and Renaye and Earl jr. and Russ fairly well but you were younger than me, maybe closer to Paul's age. I will ask that we have a moment of silence in our board of supervisor's meeting next week in honor of Eric. Be strong as you can and our prayers are with you and your family. Buddy and Mary

Eric's family
I am sorry for your loss. Freedom comes at a high cost. We are fortunate that fine young men and women like Eric are still willing to commit to the U.S. Armed Services.

To all of Eric's family, we grieve with you. We know that the sacrifices that many like Eric have made is what has made America the greatest country on earth. You should be very proud that your loved one paid the greatest price, for the Bible says that no greater love is there than a man lay down his life for his friend. I pray that you will all be joined together with Eric in Heaven someday. We are praying for you.

Although I hadn't talked to Eric in a couple years, I still thought about him all the time. He was a good friend to me and he was always in a good mood when we worked together at Popeyes. He always kept the rest of us laughing. I'm sorry that I lost touch with him and am really going to miss him. My prayers are with his family through this difficult time.

I did not personally know Eric or any of his family. But as a Gloucester resident for many years I have many acquaintenances of the Robins and Caldwell families. My heart goes out to all of them at this sad time. Eric made the greatest sacrifice for his Country that a young man can make. As a citizen and a mother, I know that even in this time of sadness his family must be very proud of his sacrifice. His spirit will live on forever in their memory. My heart and prayers are with his mother, his sister and all of his family at this time.

Please accept my deepest and most heartfelt sympathy regarding the loss of this Brave Warrior, unknown in this war torn country, so far away from home.
May they learn his identity so this family may have the peace and comfort needed for this un consolable loss.
May this Hero rest safely in the Care of God. He Will Never Be Forgotten.
There is and never will be enough ways, to humbly thank these service men and women, who are willing to serve so far from home, knowing the dangers involved. I am the sister of a Vietnam Hero, KIA-1967.
