Dear Mrs. Herman, I am so sorry for your loss. I have only just learned of Janel's passing. Janel was my college roomate/housemate during our years at JMU. She and I hadn't kept in touch these last several years but her loss touches me deeply. She was a loyal friend who would do anything for anyone in need. You have my deepest sympathies.

Mrs. Herman

I am a friend of Janel's. Even though we never had the opportunity to meet face to face, I felt as though we had known each other all our lives. You see, Janel, myself and a handful of other wonderful, loving people have been friends online for many years now. We talk, laugh, cry and dream together. We share our thoughts, our opinions, our family issues, and our beliefs with each other.

Over the years I've known Janel, I found her to be one of the happiest, bravest, caring people I've ever met.

Even though the emails won't be coming from her anymore, she will always be in my heart. I am and always will be Janel's friend.

In remembrance,
Mona Pope

Hey Aunt Ard, it's sad that Janel is gone, but I know she is in a much better place looking down on us. She was always loving and caring, and would do anything she could to help me out. I remember at my graduation dinner, she pulled me aside and told me I was like her own daughter. I know this is a tough time for us all and I will continue to keep you in my prayers. I love you so much!

Mrs. Herman,
I was a friend of your daughter in high school. We were on the yearbook staff together the last 3 years of high school. We used to hang out before school in front of homeroom with Chet, Chris, Derek, Kevin, Karen and others. I remember her sweet smile and it seems it didn't change. In fact I am looking at a high school picture of the group right now and her smile didn't change. I am so sorry of your loss and I know you and everyone will miss her. My prayers are with you.

Ard,
Our thoughts are with you and your entire family. We are so glad that we were able to spend time with you and Janel at the beach. She was so smart and funny and I loved nagging her about her Nascar Hero!! We have great memories of the two of you singing Karaoke and of our fun, hot trip to Ocracoke with T-Bone and Cathy. God Bless you and we will keep you in our prayers.

Ive been sitting here for 15 min and dont have any clue what words to use. You were a great friend and I am blessed to have had you in my life. When I get sad I think to myself how you would not want any of us to be sad. You always tried to make us laugh :) I love you

Mrs Herman-

As you know I had known Janel for many years. We would lose touch with each other, then find each other and then always seem to pick up where we left off. I have always loved her courage and kind and loving spirit even through adversity. You bore into this world an angel. An angel that has touched many lives and has showed many people what true friendships are all about. I pray that the good Lord put his loving arms around you and your family at this time. Janel may not dance on this earth anymore but she will dance in the hearts and memories of many and still remains an angel.

Dear Mom Herman,
I thank you for all that you did to help Janel throughout her ordeal over the last several years. You were a true Godsend to her. Janel was a dear, special friend and I'm so sad for your loss. She was a great tech, full of humor and wisdom, and she helped me through some very tough times. Know that she is at peace now, and that we all will miss her. God bless,

Mrs. Herman,
Not only did I attend school with Janel, I also live in Holly Ridge. Quite often when I would pass your home on the way to mine, I would think of Janel and wonder how she was. (I just found out today that she had been ill.) Several times I saw her in your yard and always thought about stopping to say hello but I never did. I wish now that I had taken the time to do so. Life is so short and too often we take things for granted. I lost my sister to cancer in 2005, she was 43 as well. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.
