Dear John and Family,

I just heard and am so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. I remember her as being a very nice and caring person so many years ago when all of us neighborhood kids hung out together. I will keep you and your family in my prayers in hope that it will help you through this very difficult time.
Take care,
Sandy

I was told of her passing on Wednesday and am sorry I was not able to offer my sympathy in person. I was known to the Beattie children as "Big Kathy" and first met the family when you all lived next door to Jimmy & Elizabeth Dorton. I began babysitting with the children when John was just a baby. What a wonderful family. I became very fond of Mary, Kathy, Robert and John, and still remember the kindness and sweet personality of Mrs. Beattie, who actually paid me for having so much fun! My thoughts are with you, Mr. Beattie as well as "my kids" who are now all grown up with children of your own. I still have pictures of all of you in my old photo album. I am honored to have spent time with your wonderful family.

Fondly

I remember hearing the name of "Margaret Mitchell Beattie" mentioned by my mother Nancy Kimbrough Beckwith who was graduated from MCV in 1943. I do not recall specifics but Mama shared many fond stories of nursing school...so maybe Mrs. Beattie played a part in those stories. Or perhaps I know her name from Daddy, Buddy Beckwith, who was an MD in the outpatient department at McGuire Hospital in the 50's, 60's and 70's. My sympathy to the Beattie Family. Sincerely,

Penny Reams
