Burl was my Foofball coach st Taylorsville (NC) High School i1964 and 1965. He was a tough, fair and good coach. He made us keep our helmets on and jerseys tucked in while on the field and sidelines, "I want you to at least look like a fooball team." Thanks, Burl

Burl Clements was a bear of a man. I had my share of paddle "licks" from him in Central Jr. High in 1976, I think I got a total of 6 licks in 2 times to his office. It did not take any more meetings like this to get my act together. You were wise not to be one to lip off to his administration, staff or the faculty. OUR schools need MORE Burl Clements! As a matter of fact I called him one Sunday in the last year or 2 and I thanked him for making us have respect towards him and the people who worked for him and at Central Junior High School. He said and I could tell in his voice "Gallion, you made my day and I thank you". Ill never forget you Mr Clements, one "Bear of a Man"

Dear Connie,

I read with disbelief about Burl. I am so sorry. I know this leaves a great emptiness in your life as well in the lives of your children and grandchildren. Please know that you are in my prayers for peace and comfort in this great loss.
