Boyd Valentine Switzer

SWITZER, Boyd Valentine, of Richmond, died Saturday, December 13, 2008. Born in Staunton, Virginia September 3, 1941, Mr. Switzer was preceded in death by his father, Boyd Griffith Switzer; and his mother, Mary Weade Switzer. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Carolyn Hummel Switzer. Following Mr. Switzer's graduation from Fishburne Military School in Waynesboro, Va. in 1959, he graduated from Hampden-Sydney College and Washington & Lee University School of Law. Throughout his life, Mr. Switzer possessed a passion for music and electronics. His wife will receive family and friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Bennett Funeral Home, 3215 Cutshaw Ave. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Riverview Cemetery in Waynesboro, Va., with a reception immediately following in the Christian Fellowship Room at the Main Street United Methodist Church, 601 W. Main St., Waynesboro. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Richmond SPCA, 2519 Hermitage Rd., Richmond, Va. 23220.
