To Sandy and Family:
I recently heard that Aubrey had passed away a few days ago. When I heard, I was very saddened. When we were all growing up, I always remember how Aubrey loved marching, flag twirling, and drums. I can remember how we used to be in your backyard on Wesley Street and he would line us up and march us around the yard. We were about 10, and he kept saying he was going to be in the band one day.

Then about two years ago I saw him. We hugged and remembered our childhood. It was truly great to see him, and that smile he had never changed! He was a teddy bear growing up, always giving hugs and hopes to many! We were very blessed to have him, but now I guess God needed a new Color Guard Marching Band Director in Heaven! And, I have no doubt he has the Heaven Color Guards performing with supreme excellence! -- Paula Person Mallory

To Aubrey,

I was very saddened to recently hear of your passing. You were one of the most kind-hearted people that I have ever met and you left a lasting impression on me! You could always lighten the mood at KD, no matter what anger I was feeling at the moment. We will all miss the nonstop singing and dancing that you did to put a smile on everyone's faces. We all love you and will truly miss you.

Mr. Rohr was an amazing colorguard coach for the Manchester High School colorguard. I was a captain on the '05-'06 guard and he was such an inspiration and made us work so hard to get what we wanted and what he wanted us to have. He was such a leader and made practice so much fun by telling silly stories and giving us nicknames. :) (he dubbed me "Layla") It is evident that he is missed and will be missed forever. What a great man, rest in peace Mr. Rohr.

Love always

To Aubrey's friends and family,
I was so heartbroken to hear of Aubrey's passing. As soon as my wife returned from their competition on Feb 7, I asked about him, and she told me of the moment of silence that was held at the show. I met Aubrey while I was in HS at Patrick Henry HS in 1984. He was a great coach, and became my friend. Aubrey is responsible for my marriage, as his love of colorguard was passed on to me, and I later coached a guard while I was in college. My future wife was their captain. We have now been married for 12 years. I had not seen Aubrey in over 15 years, when I ran into him at a competition where my wife was the colorguard sponsor. I went up to him and said, "Aubrey you probably don't remember me, but..." "Tommy Walton!!" he shouted. I was so honored that someone so well respected in the colorguard community would remember me after all those years. I looked forward to seeing Aubrey at every competition that I could go to. I really missed not seeing him last year while I was in Iraq, and I could not be at the competition last week, but had planned on seeing Aubrey in February to take him to dinner with my wife. I will truly miss him, and the Colorguard community has lost an ICON! Thank you Aubrey for always being ON!

To Aubrey's family & friends, I am so sorry for your lost. He was a great neighbor for 8 years. I believe he lived a full and fun life doing what he enjoyed which a lot of us can't say. He was always on the move. I especially remember his sharing preparations & his experience having participated in the Macy's parade.

Sandy,
My heart stopped a beat on Tuesday when my dad sat the paper in front of me with Aubrey’s obituary. I just couldn’t believe it. I remember him so full of life. It has been quite a while since I have seen him. I would run into him in the mall or a store at times. I can’t believe it’s been 27 years since I first met him at Hardees where we both worked. I remember one Christmas that he played Santa for Hardees and I was the elf and we were up on the roof of the building.
Your brother was a special man with talents galore. He had a special skill of being able to teach others what he loved so much. I can see him as he instructed everyone to spin flags and rifles and to dance at the same time. You could tell he loved it. When he marched in a parade, he was in all his glory.
He also was so light on his feet and could dance incredibly well. He could invent a dance for any kind of music. He didn’t care where he was either, when the music played, he would dance. I have a memory of him at a gas station, jumping on the hood of his white car and dancing to the music from Fame. He also was a great actor. I remember the play at Patrick Henry he was in, “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.” He brought the house down with his role and I can see him dressed as a Roman and saying,” 1 more time around.” Funny thing is that movie played Tuesday night when you were having his memorial service.
My sympathy is with you at this time. There are so many people hurting right now in Virginia and many states because of the loss of this wonderfully talented man. He left a legacy though as I read the many entries here in the guest book. There are also many kids that will never have the benefit of learning color guard from a great teacher. I am sure though that he is teaching the angel guard in heaven how to twirl the flags and spin the rifles to perfection.

Mr. Rohr,
You will be greatly missed by not only the Hanover High School Marching Band, but by the community. You were one of the most caring and pasionate color guard instructors I have come in contact with. Rest In Peace with our Lord, Jesus Christ!

I have many fond memories of Aubrey when he worked with our Color Guard Team at Patrick Henry High School in Ashland. He was so talented in many ways but most of all, his personality is what made him such a pleasure to be around. Aubrey, you will be sorely missed by those you have taught and take comfort in knowing that you have positively touched the lives of so many young people. Thank you for all that you did for us!

I helped my daughter when she was the color guard coach for Monacan HS in Chesterfield, VA. Aubrey was always such a gentleman and jokingly called me "Mom" and was always so kind to me, my daughter and the girls on the squad. I was saddened to hear of his passing. The girls won many trophies thanks to his excellent coaching and positive attitude. I know he will be sorely missed. Mrs. Mac

I had the great pleasure to work with Aubrey during the formative years of Carolina Gold in Raleigh, NC. He left as big an impression as his enormous heart and wide-open personality. In 2002 each member wore a signature color. Every color seemed to match an aspect of the persons personality. Aubrey's was, appropriately, pink.

I do not know where to begin. Aubrey was such a sweet person. I worked with him for 4 years at Monacan and was in ASG with him. He was truly a creative genius. I learned a lot about colorguard and life from him. I will never forget him and his positive outlook on life. I hope you are Boogying in heaven.

Sandy, you have my sympathy during this time of lose. Aubrey was an amazing man. I got the honor of meeting him almost 27 years ago when I was in high school and he was teaching colorguard for the Florettes. His passion for colorguard motivated me into trying out for my high school rifle line my senior year. This only led me to begin teaching colorguard soon after I graduated high school. Over the years we got to share many times together in competition and rehearsals. These times will always be remembered. His love for colorguard has touched so many lives, including my own and I am truly honored to have known him and call him a friend.

Sincerely,
David Craig (Former Colorguard Director ~ Varina High School)

Sandy, Thank you so much for calling me and letting me know about Charles' death. I'm so sorry I didn't get to see him again before his passing. He is a wonderful man who will live in my heart for the rest of my life. I know I only knew him for 2 months but he made a lasting impression on my heart. I loved talking to him about my color guard experiences and sharing my dvd's of Hairspray and Rent with him. I also loved coming in each day and he giving me a critique of my outfit. He would always say what a lovely ensemble I was wearing and how I could flair it up or tone it down the next time I wore it. I always took his suggestions and still keep them in mind today. Christopher had such a warm and welcoming smile. I too am glad he is no longer suffering and finally at peace. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow and I would like to keep in touch with you.

Blessings to you with all my love
