Erika Uhl HAMMETT

HAMMETT, Erika Uhl, 75, of White Stone, died Tuesday, September 29, 2009. She was born in Portland, Maine, and was raised and graduated from high school in New Jersey. She received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees in Mathematics from Ohio University. During her professional career, she was an instructor of Mathematics at Ohio University and Mathematics Department Head at Ranney School in Shrewsbury, N.J., for 20 years. She was a former hospice volunteer and member of Rappahannock River Yacht Club. Her favorite pastimes were reading, puzzles and traveling throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. She was preceded in death by a son, Gary W. Hammett. Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Warren G. Hammett; a daughter and son-in-law, Devi Hammett and Chad Morton of New Jersey; a sister, Marlene Madura of North Carolina. Services will be private.
