James Leroy Groce passed peacefully into the loving arms of our Savior on Tuesday, September 2nd, surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Leroy Groce and was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Etta "Meg" Long. He is survived by his son, James (Jim) Groce Jr., and daughter-in-law, Jillian (Jill) Groce grandchildren Katie Cogburn and Courtney Cogburn; his daughter, Leslie Groce Crews, and son-in-law, Ken Crews, along with his youngest grandchildren, Gunner Crews and the apple of papa's eye, Kenslie Crews. He is also survived by his little sister, Judy Wines; nephew, Jacob Gillespie and his wife, Casey; great-nephew, Blaine; and a very special nephew, Kevin Long, and his wife, Shirley. Lee worked for many years in textiles at Springs Industries in Lyman, SC, and later became the owner of The Drop-In Bar in Fairforest. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He found joy in fishing, going out to eat with his son, listening to Blues music, and watching Murdoch Mysteries. A private service for the family will be held this weekend; a Celebration of Life will be held Saturday September 13 @ 11:00-3:00 drop in at M&J's Restaurant of Greer 1100 Gap Creek Rd. Lyman, SC 29365 Matthew 18 11-14 Daddy's life was a reflection of this truth. He was deeply loved, we rejoice knowing that he is safe in the arms of his Savior, where there is no more pain-only peace, joy, and everlasting love.
