William J. Hamilton III (1943–2025) of Marblehead, MA, passed away on September 12, 2025, at the age of 81. Born in Trumbull, CT, to Helen Linane and William J. Hamilton Jr., he was educated at Notre Dame High School, Fairfield, CT, and the University of Miami, FL. After attending the University of Miami, Bill remained in Florida and began his professional career as a commodities broker, specializing in special metals. He later moved his family back to Connecticut, where he transitioned into the steel industry, a field he worked in for many years.

Bill was deeply passionate about politics and enjoyed spirited conversations across party lines. A staunch Republican, he developed a lasting friendship with Democrat George McGovern in the early 1990s, proof of his belief that respect and connection mattered more than party affiliation. Known for his compassion, generosity, and empathy, Bill would give a stranger the shirt off his back. He was deeply loved by family and friends for his unwavering kindness and loyalty.

A talented athlete, Bill excelled on both the track and football teams, earning numerous awards. He carried his competitive team spirit into fatherhood, raising three daughters and instilling in them kindness, honesty, and hard work. Bill also proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, completing two years in Vietnam with the 1st Marine Air Wing, Marine Air Group-16.

Drawn to the warmth of Florida, Bill spent much of his later life between Delray Beach, FL, and Kennebunkport, ME, where he worked at The Colony Hotel. In both places, he built a wide circle of friends who cherished his humor, laughter, and company.

Above all, Bill was a devoted father, a proud grandfather, and a new great-grandfather, treasuring every milestone and accomplishment. Nothing brought him more joy than sharing in his grandchildren's daily activities, achievements, and adventures; he always celebrated their successes with immense pride.

He is survived by his three daughters: Jennifer Costello (Greg), Jocelyn Goddard (Andrew), and Sarah Lubeck (Jonathan) and their mother Pamela Giblon; his grandchildren, Molly, Tyler, Collin, Tucker, Cassidy, Peyton, and Reagan; his great-granddaughter, Taylor; and his extended grandchildren Wyle and Prescott. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and William J. Hamilton Jr., and his sisters, Arlene Piscitelli and Joyce Barnes.

A Mass of Chrisian Burial will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Marblehead on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 12:30 pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Internment will follow after Mass in the Veterans section at Waterside Cemetery, Marblehead.
