My Name is Sheila Boeshart Hays, Buckeye, Arizona. I worked with Dr. Shegog in Franktown, Colorado in The Franktown Clinic about 35 years ago. He was my very favorite doctor to work ! I worked as his back office nurse.
This wonderful doctor made me learn something new each day. At the end of the day he would quiz me on the subjects. He was the kindness, the most caring, most professional doctor I had ever worked with. When I heard that he had made his journey to be with our Lord, my heart hurt. We lost a sincere, sweet man that loved his wife, his children, his grandchildren and friends. It was an honor to work with him the few years that I did. Blessings to his family

For the Shegog Family,
I too, was a friend of Jim's at Fort Sill along with Tom Ross. Jim and I were in the same artillery battery and I looked up to him. He was smart, knowledgable and a great role model. I regret I was never able to make contact with him again although I tried. And to think we both lived our retirement years in Virginia. RIP Jim.

To the Shegog Family,

Jim and I were Lieutenants together at Fort Sill, OK in the early 1960s and he was one the finest officers I have ever met. Many years later I have been trying to locate some those with which I was privileged to serve. Today I learned of his passing and the world is a sadder place for all of us who knew him. Rest in Peace old buddy.

Saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Shegog, a gifted and remarkable person with a warm sense of humor. I was blessed to work as secretary to Dr. Shegog when he was Clinic Commander at Fort Monroe and will remember this work experience. May you find comfort in the prayers and caring thoughts of others.

To the Shegog Family,
I am very saddened to learn of Jim's (Dr. Shegog's) passing. This comes as a great shock. We were graduate students in the Zoology Department at The Ohio State University before he entered medical school.

May your faith and memories sustain you. Jim was such a fine upstanding person who will always be remembered that way. I am sad but am so glad that our paths crossed in this life. He was a great inspiration and role model in so many ways.

May God bless each of you.

My thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through this time of sorrow. He is at peace in our Lord's sweet embrace. I had the honor of working with Dr. Shegog at MIH for many years. He always seemed to have the time for everyone and was most understanding with us, the Nursing Staff. His patients loved him. He was on his way out of the hospital when he spotted me in the emergency room with my father. He was on his way home and he was off for the weekend. My Dad was a patient of Dr. Polk. Dr. Shegog took care of having my Dad admitted and settled in before he left the hospital for home. I will always remember his kindness and generosity that day. He was kind and would light up the day with his smile. He always spoke when he saw anyone of us that knew him. He was a kind man, a good Physician, and will be missed.

To the Shegog Family, you are lifted up in prayer during this time by the Nelson Family. I knew Dr. Shegog through working with him at MIH and he always had a kind word to say and pleasant smile. He was always professional in manner. As you go forth know that God is with you and will give you strength to endure. May God continue being a blessing to you and your family as he wraps his loving arms around you and shower you with his grace and mercy.

Dr. Shegog was both a model soldier and a model physician. He was strong, yet gentle. He was competent, yet compassionate. He served us a military doctor and my wife's mother after he retired from the military.

I am sorry for your lost. I owned a cleaning business that serviced the medical facility where Dr. Shegog practiced medicine along with Dr. Polk.
He would always call be Rev. Due to the fact that I am a full-time ordianed minister with the Jehovah's Witnesses.

Dr. Shegos was a very organized man. When it came to cleaning his office, there was not a whole lot to do, as he would leave things meticulously in there proper place.

Once again, I am sorry for your lost. May Jehovah God's word, your family and friends be of much comfort at this time in your lives.

Sincerely,

Earnest Wilkerson Jr.

I have fond memories of meeting both Maxine and Howard Shegog back in December 2001 for the Crystal Ball held at the Hampton Coliseum when Carl Markun and I were your guests. I had the most enjoyable evening sharing your table and the interesting conversation that we had that evening. It was a pleasurable and memorable experience for me. I'm saddened for you and all of the family for the loss of which you are faced to endure. My thoughts and prayers will be for all to remember and cherish the happy times that each of you had with Howard and to hold on to those memories.

Sincerely,

I had the joy of knowing Dr. Shegog (Howard, as he asked to be called) while we both taught at TNCC in Hampton, and through First Baptist Church. He was a kind-spirited gentleman, possessing deep intelligence and great humor. I was especially inspired by his endless sense of faith, grace, and strength. My prayers and condolences extend to his wife, family, and beloved friends. May God blanket and comfort each of you with his love, strength, and peace now and always.

I am so sorry for you loss. Dr. Shegog was always a very kind, caring and compassionate man who didn't deserve what happened to him. I work in a nursing home where he had residents and he cared very much about them. My son had a project for school in which he had to write about a professional black man. Dr. Shegog was kind enough to talk to my son and he got an A on his paper. I will always remember him as a wonderful person. Laurie Estness
