James "Jimmy" Frederick Mawyer, 72, of Charlottesville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 5, 2010, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

He was born March 28, 1938, in Charlottesville, the son of the late Harry F. Mawyer and his loving mother, Annie L. Davis.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 54 years, Norma A. Mawyer; his devoted sister, Carol A. Mawyer; a step-father, John R. Davis; his children, James Blaine Mawyer, Angela L. Mawyer and her fiance, George Mawyer, and Bradley Mawyer and his fiancee, Rebecca Cash; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; an aunt, Virginia Smith and her husband, Stanley; a very special niece, Blair Morris and her boyfriend, Raul Figueroa; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, and special friends.

The family gives a special thanks to B. Brown.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Yolanda F. Mawyer-Woodson; his brothers, Howard F. Mawyer and Robert L. Mawyer; and many family members and friends who will all be awaiting his arrival in Heaven.

The family expresses thanks to his devoted friends, in particular, Jr. and Terri, and extended family members that were at his side throughout his battle. We also thank the staff of the University of Virginia Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2010, at the Hill and Wood Funeral Home with the Reverend Randy Blankenship officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday, November 7, 2010, at the funeral home.

I have many memories that will never be erased of PaPa and NaNa. He was always good to me and loved everyone of us. We must carry on with our own lives but never forget where we came from. If there's one thing we could learn from PaPa and NaNa its how to stay together no matter how bad the storm. Say hi to Momma for me PaPa, I'll be there soon enough. I Love all of you. Punkin.
