My sincerest condolences to all of Aunt Pernetha's grandchilden and great grandchildren. She was a lovely woman with the most beautiful spirit. I was blessed to get to know well, when I spent four years in Charlottesville while attending college. Aunt Perneatha did my hair (pro bono, of course) and fed me whenever I needed her to. And, I'm grateful to have had the pleasure of being present for her 100th birthday celebration last year. All of us who knew her are better for having known her. May you rest in peace, Aunt Perneatha.

Aunt Pernetha was a strong, generous, enterprising woman. She made her mark on Charlottesville and in her church. She was a pioneer hairdresser and businesswoman, and bettered the lives of the black nurses/students of UVA by providing a place to live. She has earned her reward. I met Pernetha in the exercise room at WCBR when I was visiting my mother. Wow - Pernetha was an amazing inspiration - energetic, kind, and gracious. It was such a pleasure to talk with her. She will be sorely missed.
