Georgia Hornbuckle Montgomery Hendrix, 94, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 27, 2025. She was born in Copeville, Texas in 1931 to Mary Emma Wade and George Jabez Hornbuckle.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Harvey Montgomery and James Hendrix; sisters, Dorah Allen and Genevieve Thompson; grandson, Brennan Montgomery.

She is survived by son, Scott Montgomery and wife Patricia; daughter, Sherri Cerise Montgomery; grandchildren, Jason Montgomery, Sterling Montgomery, Blayr Proffitt, Jennifer Amor and husband Ryan; great-grandchildren Cole, Nicholas, Ava, and Carter; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She loved her family and friends with all of her heart.

Georgia was a life long member of the Baptist Church and enjoyed her time teaching adult ladies Sunday school classes. She was a 70 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Past Worthy Matron, chapter #156 in Garland. She had been a member of many genealogy related groups including The Jamestowne Society; Magna Charta Dames & Barons; Daughters of the American Revolution; Daughters of the American Colonists; National Society of Colonial Dames of XVII Century; the Dallas Genealogical Society, and the Early Settlers of Collin County.

She had many hobbies including porcelain and oil painting, genealogy, and travel. She won 12 ribbons at the State Fair of Texas for her porcelain painting. Some pieces were chosen to be included in special displays.

As a small child, Georgia thought she would never get out of Collin County but ended up travelling as far west as Hawaii and as far east as Greece. Many of her trips in the US and abroad included visits to archives, libraries, and cemeteries to research family history. She took her last trip to Europe, alone, at age 69 to work on genealogy and enjoy art - this included cruising the Rhine River in Germany and driving the Autobahn in a rented Mercedes using only a 17th century map to find the towns her family was from, stopping off in Paris for a few days to visit The Louvre, spending rainy days in the London library researching, spending sunny days in London enjoying historic sightseeing tours, and visiting the Montgomery family in Ireland at Cavanaugh House.

Georgia was a positive force in many peoples lives. She will be greatly missed.
