Gloria Jean Hughes, 74, entered into rest on the morning of Thursday, October 23, 2025.
Born on June 6, 1951, in Waycross, Georgia, Gloria was the daughter of the late James Miller and Mary Martha Flanders Tillman.
Gloria lived a life filled with love, kindness, and devotion to her family and friends. A true nurturer at heart, she found joy in gardening, crocheting, cooking, and dancing. As a supportive military wife, Gloria traveled the world. Wherever life took her, she cared for those around her as if they were her own. She never gave up on anyone or anything and faced every challenge with strength and faith.
Above all, Gloria cherished her family, especially the children. She was always there with a listening ear, a helping hand, and words of encouragement. Her love, generosity, and warmth touched countless lives, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Lewis E. Hughes, Sr.; and siblings, Cora Mae Collins, and Martha Gail Adams.
She is survived by her children, Vicki Grabowski (David) of Georgia, Casondra Lykins (Tom) of Kentucky, and Lewis E. Hughes, Jr. of Georgia; grandchildren, Emily Ohlmann (Mark), Andrew Lykins, Joshua Hughes, Taylor Grabowski, Nathaniel Lykins, Abigail Lykins, Aiden Matherly, and Jaykob Hughes; one great-grandson, Stetson Ohlmann; and siblings, Brenda J. Sapp, Katie Cox (Ricky), and Dorsey Tillman (Debra), all of Georgia; along with many other adored nieces and nephews.
