Jonathan Kerry James, 38, passed away unexpectedly on October 23, 2025. Kerry was a strong and loving man who valued his family above all else. He built a life and family that he absolutely treasured. He resided in Shallotte, NC with his son, Jonathan Kerry James II, grand dog, Abel, and the love of his life, Heather Ann James. Kerry often enjoyed working on cars, building things, and playing video games. The absolute pride and joy of his life was his son and namesake Jonathan Kerry James II.
Kerry James was from Hamlet, NC where numerous family and friends remain. He is the child of Cynthia Gail James of Hamlet and Robert David James of Rockingham. Preceeded in death by two loving companions Eva Ann and Kolt; maternal grandparents Mitchell and Betty Elvis; paternal grandparents William and Leah James; father-in-law Tracy McDonald; and brother-in-law Robert McDonald.
In addition to his parents left to cherish his memory is his wife Heather Ann James and son Jonathan James II (Carolina). As well as siblings Robert David James Jr (Brooke), Mitchell William James (Nikki), Nyssa Fucci (Daniel), and Harley Waite. Sisters in law Casey McDonald (Garrett) and Madison McDonald. Kerry had numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. As well as many additional family and friends that meant a lot to him.
Kerry worked at ADT Security where he met numerous people who became cherished friends. He also made lifelong friendships with several people who he enjoyed playing video games with, his PlayStation family.
A celebration of life to honor Jonathan Kerry James will be held from 1pm to 4pm on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Fox Road Farm Place – 540 Fox Road, Marston, NC 28363. At other times the family will receive visitors and friends at Kerry’s home in Shallotte, NC.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Atrium Health Transplant Fund as this was a cause close to Kerry’s heart. He was a double transplant recipient which gave us all more years together and, in the end, he was able to help others as well.
