Funeral services for Mrs. Loretta Smith Gwin, 83, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at Victory Baptist Church in Monroe, LA, with Rev. Grant Bamburg officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until service time at the church.
Mrs. Gwin was born February 23, 1940, in Crowville, LA, and passed away September 15, 2023, in Collinston, LA. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Monroe.
Mrs. Gwin was preceded in death by her parents, J.B. and Eunice Baum Smith.
Survivors include her husband, Charlie Gwin; sons, Chuck Gwin (Christy), Greg Gwin (Kelly), and Scotty Gwin (Kathy); daughter, Joni Gwin Vallery (Philip); seven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; four sisters, Lavada Armstrong, Virginia Baugh, Sharon Smith and Kay Williamson; and two brothers, Clark Smith and Ted Smith.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Gwin, Greg Gwin, Scotty Gwin, Philip Vallery, Kyle Gwin, and Adam Gwin. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin O’Neal, Connor O’Neal, Gage Gwin, Ryan Gwin, and Troy Gwin.
The family would like to give special thanks to Hannah Terrebonne, Dee Banks, Joyce Boyd, Sandra Gremillion, Cheryl Minor, and Craig West with Caring Hands Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to John Clarke Perry Foundation or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
