Bethany, CT – Maria Anne Dietrich Durley, 80, passed away quietly on Saturday, July 1, 2023, with her loving husband, and loved ones by her side.
She was born on September 15, 1942, in Washington, DC, and was predeceased by her mother Anne R. Stotz in 2011 and her stepfather Ralph L. Stotz in 1974. Besides her loving husband of 58 years, Harold “Rocky” Durley, she leaves 3 children and their significant others; her four grandchildren and their significant others; and her great-granddaughter. She is also survived by her younger sister Maureen A. Murry (Mo) and her family from Garden Grove, CA to mourn her passing.
Maria was a 1960 graduate of Naugatuck High School and received her LPN nursing license from Yale New Haven School of Nursing. As a resident of Bethany and an LPN, she volunteered her time with the Bethany Volunteer Ambulance Corp. for many years. Maria was also a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Over her many years of service, she held many offices both locally and within the Grand Chapter.
She was an avid book reader and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint. New babies would always receive a blanket, cap, and booties! Her handmade gifts will surely be missed and cherished for many generations to come.
The Durley family would like to thank the doctors and staff at St. Mary’s Hospital for their care and support.
