Mary Virginia Griffin Weaver, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on October 23, 2025, in Thomasville, Georgia. She will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, and dedication to her family and her steadfast devotion to her Lord Jesus Christ.
Virginia was born on November 9, 1932, in Lenox, Georgia, to the late William and Irma Willis Griffin. She graduated from Norman Park High School in 1950 and devoted her life to her family as a homemaker. She married the late Dr John W Weaver in 1953. Virginia was known for her exceptional skills in sewing and quilting, as well as her love for cooking. Over the years, she spent time volunteering in the nursery at East Side Baptist Church for 25 years, making a lasting impact on many young lives. Virginia is survived by her brother Winford (Butch) Griffin, her loving children, Mike Weaver (Celestine), Mark Weaver (Lisa), and Gary Weaver (Jennifer), all of Thomasville; grandchildren Kelly Chastain, Courtney Davis, Kristi Ambrose (Jordan), Chelsea Roberts (CJ), and Leslie Flowers (Tyler); as well as fifteen great grandchildren, including Holly Davis, Hadley Davis, Quinn Davis, Scarlett Chastain, Camille Chastain, John Phillip Chastain, Riley Ambrose, Jace Ambrose, Cason Ambrose, Laiken Roberts, Gavin Roberts, River Roberts, Killian Dorsey, Jenson Dorsey, and Bellamy Flowers, all of Thomasville.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sisters, Doris Norman and Margaret Robert. Funeral services for Mary Virginia Weaver will take place on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 2 pm at East Side Baptist Church, where friends and family will gather to celebrate her life and legacy. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
