Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory - ElizabethtownIt is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nelson (Butch) R. Snyder. Butch passed away on October 18, 2025, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 82.
Born on December 7, 1942, Butch was a lifelong resident of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where he lived in the Elizabethtown area with his wife, Joyce (Hipple) Snyder, for over 40 years.
Butch is predeceased by his parents, Norman and Laura Snyder, and granddaughter Leigh Ann Shope. He is survived by a brother and a blended family of 9 children, Brian Snyder, Norman Snyder, Laurie Snyder, Cyndy Hipple Brandt, Kenneth White, Thomas Shope, Clint (Doug) White, Edward Thomas, Daryl Thomas, 15 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
Butch was a multifaceted man. He was an Army veteran, hair model in his younger years, and truck driver/mechanic at Jagtrux, Inc., where he worked with some of his closest friends. He loved hunting, woodworking, and visiting the mountains in Perry County. One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his friends and family, particularly during his legendary Christmas Eve parties. In his later years, he enjoyed listening to classic country music on his record player, sharing stories from his younger days, and spending time in the great outdoors.
More than his passions, Butch will be remembered as a loyal friend, a devoted husband, a hard-working father, and a proud grandfather. Butch’s family finds peace in knowing that he has finally been reunited with his beloved schnauzer Bubba, certain they are sharing a dish of vanilla ice cream, looking down on us all.
Friends are invited to drop in for a Celebration of Life on Sunday, November 16, 2025 from 2-4pm at Country Meadows Restaurant, Elizabethtown, PA.
