Sandra Rae “Sandy” Klitz, age 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

She was born in Clintonville WI on February 29, 1948 to Raymond and Margaret Krueger. Sandy is survived by her husband Ronald Klitz, her children Christine Klitz and Elizabeth (John) Schultz, her grandchildren Robert Klitz, Mackenna Schultz and Samantha Schultz, and her sister Debra Nienke. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Margaret Krueger, her sister, Darla Baerenwald, and her brothers, James Krueger and Robert Krueger.

Ron and Sandy were married on November 04, 1967. They first met in band class at Marion High School. Sandy enjoyed playing the flute and Ron played the trumpet. Their first band concert together was spent playing cards between performances, which became a favorite pass time of theirs for their entire marriage. They were both members of the same Luther League and enjoyed adventures together that involved hunting, fishing, swimming and going to the movies in their younger years. They enjoyed traveling together to such places as the Grand Cayman, Glacier National Park, Florida, the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, and Cozumel, many of which the entire family was able to enjoy along with them and create lasting memories filled with laughter and love. They celebrated 57 years of marriage together, with many landmark anniversaries celebrated with family and friends.

Sandy was a hard worker all of her life. She earned an Associate degree as a legal secretary from Northcentral Technical College. She worked as a nurse’s aid, secretary, bus driver and bank teller, as well as volunteer activities, including gymnastic fundraising and math tutoring. She enjoyed many years as a homemaker raising her daughters and running them back and forth to their many activities with school and sports. Her and Ron settled in Ringle, WI to raise their family, where she spent many nights creating delicious home-cooked meals made from food from their garden, splashing around in their above ground swimming pool, or just watching a show on TV together enjoying a large bowl of popcorn and chocolate malts.

Sandy cherished time spent with her family and friends. She enjoyed playing card games like Nertz, Hand and Foot, Skip Bo, Crazy Eight and Go Fish with her family. She participated in a women’s group from Whitestone church that would gather monthly to play Hand and Foot and a Bridge group with her friends from Racine. This is no surprise, as she spent many nights playing Sheepshead, Smear and Poker at her childhood farmhouse where many weekends were spent together with her siblings, nieces and nephews.

She was an amazing baker, always being asked to bring the dessert for a family gathering or party and she always made sure to make everyone’s favorite cake or dessert for their birthday every year. She was known for making the best Christmas dessert trays filled with pecan tassies, peanut butter kisses, scotcharoos, homemade fudge and chocolate covered peanut clusters.

Sandy had a passion for sewing. She made homemade quilts and baby blankets that she gifted many loved ones with over the years. She enjoyed traveling throughout the state to quilting gatherings planned through Zion, Lutherdale and a local sewing store in Racine spending time with the ladies she saw regularly. She most recently surprised Ron with a beautiful quilt featuring fish on one side in the shape of a cross and a soft fuzzy underside with moose on it for Father’s Day.

Sandy had a love for gardening. She enjoyed planting and caring for her flowerbeds and pots at every home she lived in. She was always gifting others with bulbs to plant or beautiful flowers for Mother’s Day. She knew exactly how to help you relocate a plant safely in the Spring or Fall, and what the name of a flower was that you were enjoying the beauty of on a walk together.

She loved swimming. She grew up jumping in the pond at Leopolis Dam, boating on the Wolf River with her Aunt Esther, spending boating days on Lac LaBelle with the Brinsko’s or swimming days together at PD’s pool. She was always the first to pull a frog toy or ball out of her beach bag and begin a game of catch with the grandkids or counting how many hits we could keep the beach ball up in the air before letting it hit the water.

She was an avid reader and shared her love of books with her daughters and grandchildren. She never missed a chance to attend one of her grandchildren’s school activities which included many band concerts, talent shows, Wonder Fairs and of course, their many sporting events over the years.

She bravely and courageously battled Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer for almost 5 years. Continuing to do the activities she enjoyed most in life while maintaining her treatment plan. She was a living miracle for many years and faced it with grace and a stoic demeanor. She wanted to keep moving and doing things for others as long as she could. Her courage, strength and perseverance will be remembered by all that knew her. We are very grateful to Angel’s Grace Hospice of Oconomowoc for the loving care Sandy was given during her final days.

A celebration of life service will take place on November 15th at Whitestone Church. The visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a service at 1:00 p.m. and luncheon to follow.

Flowers, donations to Whitestone Community Church, Angles Grace Hospice, or to a charity of your choice are all welcomed and appreciated.
